Welcome to Austin’s Tiniest Kids’ calendar with just a few carefully selected activities during the coming week, usually hiking, music or art related. For this week, it is all music all the time, because Austin is especially good for that.
Music Under the Star
Friday, July 27, 6 – 9 pm
1800 Congress Avenue
I love when folks who are really talented do something their very own way and The Gourds are just like that. See their brand of alternative, Americana music in a free, outdoors, kid-friendly setting at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. Check out the the special exhibition Texas Music Roadtrip in-between sets, also free!
Saturday, July 28, 1:00-4:00pm
1500 Alameda Drive
It’s like the peanut butter and chocolate of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. When you put a beautiful park and live music together, the experience is twice as fun! Check out bluegrass from The Lost Pines and The Bottom Dollar String Band at Little Stacey Park this Saturday.
Austin Symphony Hartman Foundation Concerts in the Park
Sundays, now – August 26, 7:30pm
The Long Center, 701 West Riverside Drive
If that isn’t enough music for one weekend, check out the classical ensemble concerts at the Long Center. This Sunday features a Big Band ensemble playing jazz, light classical and film scores. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket and if you get there early, walk over to Butler Park and say “Hi” to the turtles. Free parking is available at One Texas Center located at Barton Springs and South 1st Street.
