Austin Kids Recommended! – June 15-21

Growing Up Austin - Austin Kids Recommended!

Welcome to Austin’s Tiniest Kids’ calendar with just a few carefully selected activities during the coming week, usually hiking, music or art-related.

Ski Shores Family Movie Night with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Friday, June 15, 8:30pm
This event is certainly for the five-and-older crowd, with the later start time and Willie Wonka’s nightmarish, drug-trippy, boat-ride-in-a-tunnel that scares even me. But it’s outdoors, on the lake and they make free s’mores for the kids. This is a summer series, check out the link above for more dates and movies.

Austin Symphonic Band’s Father’s Day Show at Zilker Hillside Theater
Sunday, June 16, 7:30pm
The Austin Symphonic Band is taking care of your Dad on Father’s Day. Bring a picnic, a blanket and listen to the music under the stars in Zilker Park.

Sara Hickman with Music For Kids at Windsor Branch Public Library
Wednesday, June 20, 2:00-2:30pm
Music for Kids is a free summertime concert series with week-day, day-time mini concerts for kids with some really talented grown-up musicians. This week Sara Hickman plays, check out the full calendar for shows by Guy Forsyth, Marcia Ball and more.

If you are looking for more summer fun, I really like this post from, another great source for kid-friendly Austin info.
