Sparkles does my hair at night, while I read her books, just before bed. Early on, she played with my hair, making pretend pony tails. But later, she figured out the twist-of-the-wrist and the pull-through of the half-made pony. Now she makes two, three and sometimes four pony-tails in my hair, along with clips along the sides and on top.
Sometimes she pulls too hard.
Sometimes she uses a small black comb on my easily-made-frizzy hair.
She always ends with a headband. This last part is so sweet.
She is slow and careful.
(Early attempts resulted in very-near-eye-injuries.)
Then she steps back to admire her work and we both smile.
On Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for the big things like my family, our health, our church and our city, but I’m also thankful for the little things like Sparkles doing my hair at night, while we read books, before bed.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
