My Freaky Blue Polka Dotted Baby

What is it with these blue eyes? Aren’t they kind of freaky? This doll could be in a Stephen King movie about a possessed baby doll that attacks you in the middle of the night with something she found in the kitchen.

Well, it is true that this version of Mrs. Beasley seems to have had her bangs trimmed awfully short. And she lost all her clothes some where along the way.

And the original seems a little easier on the eye…

I remember Mrs. Beasley on the TV show Family Affair, when Buffy had a Mrs. Beasley.  Mrs. Beasley listened to all Buffy’s problems and Buffy said Mrs. Beasley wasn’t a doll, she was a friend.

Well, I didn’t exactly remember the quote and everything, I needed TV Acres to help with the details, but that is how it felt, like I had a friend. That is why I didn’t notice at first, when I pulled her out of storage where she has been for decades, that she looks kind of freaky. I gave her to Buttercup and while Mrs. Beasley isn’t her favorite baby, they have become friends. I’m glad I could return the favor to Mrs. Beasley, after all these years.

So sweet…yet such a creepy doll. Did I tell you about the time when I put sparkles down for the night and later found her sitting in a chair when I went to check on her? It was terrifying like a live Chucky doll right next to me when I saw her!

  2. Oh….wow. I REMEMBER these dolls! And while my sister and I never really watched the show, we inexplicably had a set of Family Affair paper dolls. Never did figure that out.

A good friend of mine has this uber-disturbing monkey doll that apparently was quite popular in the late 60’s-early 70’s and she handed down to her daughter. She loved it, even though my friend said it gave her the creeps.

@Sydney – Totally agree. Everytime I go out into the living room and see that doll there in the glow the moonlight, I think of Chucky. I really don’t know about trying to endear my 1 year old to it when it freaks me out.

Too many scarry movies out there! For all the years the Mrs. Beasley was in our home, she was a warm, cuddly doll with an extensive wardrobe made by a loving relative. Never noticed her big eyes other than being so beautifully blue. So glad that she is still around. Long live Mrs. Beasley!
